Now the light switch body..more questions

Try as I might, always some stumper pops up <G>. After switch rod arrived, I bought final pieces at Zephyrhills today to complete lighting/horn assembly on the steering column: spring, spider, retainer, the light switch body and the switch bail. I see where switch body has an upper and lower...

    Axel Grease cups

Tried over at HAMB to figure out what to do to get axel grease cups on my 30 axel with my '32 16" wheels . Ordered '30 cups not knowing they would be too tall for the '35 hub caps. Think someone referenced the 'ego axel length.. Never had a car without grease cups and wonder if necessary on my...

Someplace I read about adjusting handle to a specific number of clicks.. My brake handle clicks twice but doesn't,t hold on a slight driveway grade? Before I get into pulling the rear drums, I would like to try whatever adjustment is possible... I see maybe 1/2-3/4" of adjustment on the...

Light switch, horn assembly on column

My 30A came without the subject and I'm ready to install an assembly if: I can determine if the two-tooth is a Gemmer (?) or Ford and therefore needs a 43 or 44" shaft?? I'd rather not cut off and thread anything. I'm studying the MAC's catalog picture but unable to measure with nothing there...

Any way to recover the illegible engine number. Firewall has a number but still would like the engine number. Seems like I remember guns with serial numbers removed and number being recovered somehow. Thanks, Dick

    1930 A sheetmetal wiring penetrations

Previous owner changed to 12vdc and routed a bunch of wire through the sheetmetal corner of the lower firewall and under cowl side panel as seen from engine side. Even from under the car, I can't see exactly where they come through but am a big believer in grommets for safety. Les Andrews...

    newbee general Model A questions

What is a "hot air pipe", where and what is it supposed to do? Mentioned in a post regarding "rough running". Noticed no one uses a dwell meter or mentions vacuum gage. Why? Is there a vacuum port someplace? Is it a hole or just depression that the timing pin drops into for static timing...

    first distributor timing attempt

probably just newbe-itis but several things have me wondering. 1. rotor to body gap varies. body can move about unless cap on and latches secured. not sure how to measure rotor/body gap with this lossness. Do new caps usually fit tighter even without "latches" secured? I don't remember this...

    zenith carb leak

after a mile or so drive today, it appears there is a fuel leak where the press-in tube containing the GAV enters the carb body. The tube appears to not be fully seated. Looking at MAC's assembly illustration, perhaps I'm describing the adjusting needle housing... checking the previous owners...

    cooling system

Never had an unpressurized cooling system before. Always had a temp gage & overflow can. Fellow who sold car said steam out cap is usually overfilling radiator.... Radiator cap seems to be a loose fit and has an internal tube projecting above the last core piece & going to the frame level...

    1930 sedan instrument panel removal

new guy here. question is how to remove instrument panel without affecting the gas gage lever & float. I need to review wiring and inop ammeter before adding my turn lite system and somewhat straightening out the sloppy wiring. Apparently the car was converted to 12vdc negative ground &...

    throttle lever notches

My recently purchased 30 A 2-door sedan has no horn button on the steering column, just a decorative flat plate, and no discernable "notches" felt as mentioned in starting procedure. Someone previously installed a horn button on the side panel by the left foot. My question is how many...
