Does manifolds/carb assembly have to be removed before valve cover & oil return pipe?

Is exhaust manifold torqued in steps to the 25-39? is last step hot?

The manifolds do not have to be removed to take off the side cover.

Its good to take up the manifold retainers in steps starting from the center and going out. Just keeping snugging them. Tight is about 30-35 lb/ft. They'll ned to be snugged a couple times after being driven.

Dick; Manifolds do NOT have to be removed. As Patrick L. says for torquing. I do mine cold, but I'm not sure that it matters.
