Axel Grease cups

Tried over at HAMB to figure out what to do to get axel grease cups on my 30 axel with my '32 16" wheels .

Ordered '30 cups not knowing they would be too tall for the '35 hub caps.
Think someone referenced the 'ego axel length..

Never had a car without grease cups and wonder if necessary on my A ?

Thanks, Dick

Good question, I have late 31's on my 30 coupe and the grease cups thread in ,which I don't have. I also run 35 wheels I'll have to check if they will be to long for the hub caps. I've been running mine with out for a couple years now , haven't had a problem yet.

Although caps would be nice to keep the dust out, they are not necessarily needed. I run 34 wheels and had not thought about clearance issues. Just keep to the regular scheduled maintenance and you should be good. I believe the front wheel bearings are to be repacked every 1000 miles

I seem to recall a post not too long ago mentioning that they were not standard on the Model A. I stopped using them because I was concerned that unless the bearing retaining washer was ground down sufficiently, driving the caps into the hubs could jam them against the washer and thus the outside bearing could be way too tight. Silly?
