Does Your Wife drive the model A?

My wife, Lona, drives her '31 roadster mostly to shows and to town and has learned to double clutch well. We have four kids, 3 guys and one gal and all have taken a turn in the roadster. Our daughter caught on quicker than her brothers.

a pile of.
I thought there was a recent note from our/ boss about this language

What did i do wrong?
It is not racial, political, swearing or offending as far as i know, but teach me because i am Dutch, overhere we call things by their name and don't bleep everything............

Everybody is different. As a kid back in the 1950's, my mother struggled mightily with any standard transmission of that era. She had an old friend that had fallen on hard times following the death of her husband in a car accident. The friend ended up with Model A that was in nice shape and only cost her $50. I was always amazed at how smoothly her friend could handle the Model A. She drove it like it had power steering and an automatic transmission.

I hope that when I drive my modern manual gearbox cars I'm a lot smoother than most of the auto boxes I've experienced!

You could always write your signature phrase in Dutch, that would confuse the eikel.

No.

I'll have to get something a little more comfortable for her to even drive in it.

That's a good excuse to pick up a nice 62 T-bird like my high school car. Yea, that the ticket!:D

Yeh, my wife drives the A but doesn't like driving it in town. Double de-clutching is not her favourite pass-time so she prefers to come to a stop, then go up through the gears again. If push came to shove though, she'd get it home, maybe with me still in it.
I don't mind here driving it - one needs a good scream now and then.:D:eek:

I have on numerous occasions tried but she says she just enjoys the rides, my mother never drove any of my father's cars either

There has been discussion among the ladies in our club about learning to drive our cars. Given the general age of the guys, it's not without reason that one of these days while on tour, one of the guys may become unable to drive home for one reason or another, and that would force the issue.

There are several of the ladies that do drive the old cars, but most of them would like to be able to "get their man home". Having said that, no one has taken any initiave at t his point.

Maybe your club could do the same as ours - arrange a day specially to teach the women how to drive an A. Even though my wife can do it, we'll be there anyway.
I think patience will be needed teaching someone who has never driven anything but an automatic before.

And when the women learn to double clutch, I know some guys that the women could teach to double clutch. I've ridden with some gear grinders, but when I mention double clutching, they just say shift faster so you don't grind so long.
