    Destined to happen

Went out to get in my car and saw where someone had hit the left rear fender, also snagged the license and bent it and the bracket in half. They must have pulled in beside it, then hit it backing out. Should consider myself lucky that after 9 months and 5000 miles, it's my daily, this is the...

    Hit 5000 miles

Anyone following my post knows I bought my A toward the end of last year. Towed it home, did all the things I thought were needed to put it on the road, drove it for 2 weeks, then sold my normal daily, just to make sure I wouldn't be tempted to not drive it on bad weather days. Thanks to all the...

    Steering box ?

Alright, I know this is going to to be one of those I should already know questions, but when looking at my friends 1929 and my other friends 1930 they have steering gear boxes with a place to put gear oil in, and mine has a grease fitting. What is up? Thanks ahead for your help.

    Fun projects evr

Anyone familiar with Fun projects evr. I changed my generator for an alternator when I first got my car so I could run brighter bulbs and turn signals. I still have 6 volts, only now with the alternator, which does just fine. I have been reading about evr installs on stock generators and would...

    Interior cooling

Not wanting to install an air conditioner in my car, but since I live in South Florida, and my car is my daily driver, I was wandering if anyone ever mounted a small fan like we use to mount to our roll bars to keep cooler when racing. And if so, do you know where I could find one that is 6 volt?

    Help me out guys

I have read many times about the death wobble. I drive my car every day and have put over 4000 miles on it and never a problem. Last night my family wanted me to take all of them to dinner in my car. 5 people, 3 heavy in the back seat, and my 6ft2in father inlaw in the front. On the way to the...

    Spark Plug Qustion

I have a set of champion 3X spark plugs that were in a box when I got the car. When I look at them they seem to have a set of regular spark plug compression rings on them that are totally flat. In the same box there was a pack of thick rings listed as spark plug compression rings. All the...

    Great Time

My wife and I met up with the Ft Lauderdale Chapter of Gold Coast Model As on Saturday and had a great time. A better group of people we could not have found. Joining was one of the best things Iv'e done since buying the car. And my wife and I are looking forward to future events. And it was a...

    Top question

Not familiar with the top on my A. I noticed this morning I had a couple of wet spots on the rear part of the headliner. Car is my daily so I drive in the rain a lot. Are these sealed. The top looks great, and I see no visible signs of anything coming loose. Any information would be greatly...

Water pump play, and light noise

Just developed a slight noise in my water pump. Checked end play, about a 16th in and out play. Very slight side to side. I didn't build it, but suppose to only have the 4000 thousand miles I have put on it. I have greased it every 500 miles in the front, and every 1000 miles in the rear. I...

    To much?

I was outside this AM with my flashlight in the rain checking my oil and water, just like every day. I go to work very early, dark when I leave, so the flashlight is needed. Oh, for those not familiar with me, I am the guy who decided to make my A my daily driver. Even went so far as to sell my...

    Why would they do that?

Anyone following my post know I purchased my A end of last year and made it my daily driver. The car had been restored in the late 80s by a well known restorer. It had sat for many yrs before I got it and only had 252 miles on it. The only thing as enjoyable as driving this car is maintaining...

    MMO use ?

After reading many tips on the forums, I noticed quite a few post of people using MMO in their fuel. Wanting to do all the best things I can to keep my A in the best shape I can, would like to know the best amount to put in. I have used in the past on occasion, but not as a regular thing. Thanks...

    Somewhat offensive

I was a little offended by being talked down to by a member who assumed I didn't know what something was or what I was talking about. Had been a few years since I had seen one and couldn't recall what it was called. I may be new to model As, but I have been wrenching for 40+ years and have...

Anyone familiar with White Post Restorations

When I bought my car the gentleman that had it restored had passed. I assume his family didn't care much for it as they put it away and ignored it for many years. They got a dealer to try and sell it for them and he offered it as a 1929 ford for sale. No pictures, no details. My wife and I...

    Thermostat--Yes or NO

I live in south Florida. Use my A as my daily, about 150 miles a week. Morning commute is fine. Evening is rough. Stop and go driving and slow speeds , tempertures in the 90s. Never had a problem with over heating, runs 170 to 175 . Is there any benefit to having a thermostat. I have put over...

    Ethanol Free

Started using Sunoco Rec 90. Seems to run great, and since this is my daily, I feel much better about not running ethanol. Any changes I should think about since the Rec 90 is a higher octane fuel. Or does this not matter much in these older engines?

    Spark advance setting

I live in south Florida. It is flat as a fritter here, So adjusting the spark advance while driving doesn't seem to be needed. All the way up to start, then halfway down and leave it alone. I put about 150 or more miles a week on my car, and it seems to do fine like this at any speed. Cruise to...
