OCMAFC 55 Pancake Breakfast

Not sure what weather they are looking at it. It's definitely Raining this Sunday! Plus windy!
If they expect any kind of real turn out they should reschedule this Great Event to the following Sunday.

Fullrace, I agree. They need to look at the weather of the surrounding areas, not just Orange.

We live ~35 miles NW of Hart Park and the weather can be vastly different. Altho I have been looking forward to this event all year I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to pass.

The Lady with the 'Mega-Doppler' sez that it's going to be a "Cold, wet weekend...:rolleyes::rolleyes:

It's about a 115 mile freeway round trip for me with no wipers. I have to decide what I am going to do. I wonder how many people are going to pass?

It's currently saying 50% chance of rain and 10 to 15 mph winds.
The grass areas will be soaked from the heavier rain we are to get on Saturday.
80% chance rain for Saturday.
I'm not sure who's in charge of the Event but they should really consider next weekend as it will be Sunny. Great Weather for Photos too.Rain with cold winds is Not my idea of a good time to be outdoors, let alone bring out Beautifully restored Model A's

Latest word we got from OCMAFC is it's on and to bring your umbrellas.

In defense of OCMAFC, it's probably not that easy to change the date. If it's anything like around here you have to reserve the park for your event. And they more than likely already have the food bought. Don't know, just speculating... :cool::cool:

Having lived in the Seattle area for 30+ years and now in Anchorage for 20+ years, If you planned your activities around the weather, you wouldn't ever be doing anything.

Every year in mid May, we have a 300 mile tour (each way) that extends over a weekend. 2 years ago, we woke up to snow that Saturday we were to leave. So we changed our plans. Instead of leaving at 8, we left at 9. And yes, it snowed on us for the first couple of hours. Then it cleared up and we had a wonderful weekend. (I did install a heater in my PU right after that trip, thanks to the urging of my bride).

Its been years since I actually drove a Model A to this great event.
I recently was able to purchase my old family 29 Tudor. It was owned by 3 different people since I had it last in 2003. The second of those owners parked it outside in a field for over 10 years. The paint is faded from the sun and there is some rust spots. The person I just bought it from got it running, but put a limited amount of miles on it. The wiper does not work, but I plan on spraying the windshield with that rain proof solution. I'm planning on coming, rain or shine.

My avatar picture is what it looked like in 2003.
Paint was very nice.
The second owner ended up in a rest home. I don't know how long he was there. That may of had something to do with the neglect.

Hope you have fun on Sunday. We have decided not to go. There is not any cover at the park to get out of the rain. And the parking lot is in a dry river bed (well dry when NOT raining...:eek:)

Flipped your picture:

Here is the thing, Orange Ca. parks department states;

"The City of Orange will not grant a facility or picnic refund for inclement weather inconvenience. However, the user group will be allowed to reschedule their picnic reservation up to three months in advance if inclement weather is the main factor for not attending their scheduled picnic reservation."

What it does not say is if inclement weather is forecast or if there is actually bad weather that day. It is conceivable that if they reschedule now they could lose the permit fee. But if it were cancelled the day of the event it could be rescheduled. Sucks either way.

They had a lot of fun in 2011 click on the picture for more pics;

Haha, Good picture, Mike V. Doesn't look like too many participants Compare with a couple of pictures I took of the same "Parking Lot" last year;

There was a lot of cars there that year and they had to park cars different to let the regular cars by the outside. The river in the middle was NOT because of the rain, they opened some sort of channel or gate upstream. I bet it's not even going to rain that bad, maybe a drizzle. I'm going to drive the Studebaker up there with some Rain-X on the window. I wouldn't miss it for anything......I look forward to it every year.

1 day and slightly drizzling today. MAX is 20% chance tomorrow (1-2 mph wind) with 60% overnight.....it's going to be a good day with solid grass area.

Now they are saying no rain in Orange County until Monday A.M.

I am going.

I have an umbrella and checked my Vacuum operated wiper and it does work :) but I think I will also take my Rain-X.

I have been in a snow storm with my car so a little rain will not hurt it.

So far, the rain forecasts for Southern California have typically been very over-hyped almost everytime this year. Today was no exception, with rain forecast, and little to none falling.
