No pics from me as mine is Aluminum. Its also 6.7 o 1 14mm plugs

Hey hale,
Thanks, as that clears that one up..I think :) !
I've never seen an IRON Thomas and think that Tod's would be first such on the market. If anyone knows otherwise, please let us know ?
Iron Thomas sounds great though :D

Ok Bob, I'll work on pictures for those who have never seen one. Be warned though that....they are Ugly  !! I'd sure would like to know the detailed story on how this head came to be as it is. I think that that would be interesting. Says on the head , among MANY other words, that CHRYSLER made or auth the making....'for model A ford'

More on Simmons

click> Model A Simmons Super Power Head on Ford Garage

Most used ones I have had or seen had at least one crack in the square combustion corner above the piston on at least one cylinder.

Also the spark plug placement is different than stock, not working well with original distributor bodies.

Hey Vince,
Thanks for added info :). No cracks in comb cham corners, on this specimen, yet !
Do you happen to know what the original color, if any, this head was sold with  I'm cleaning it up for paint and was wondering about color.
I'm also going to cc head to try verify its cr. I've said that it looks to be 5.5 cr as is ?

Hey ronn,
I ran one of the first of the 111 series made back over a decade ago. Not dual plug back then. Well made/machined. Mine was 7:1 and ran darn good. Matter of fact, it is still running strong in a different A not mine, in another part of this state :)
Way back when, I think that I paid like $550. for it, while Tod is talking $400 for a new iron head. Something to consider also.
I think that an iron Thomas will make great power, look great and be a first iron Thomas...go Tod !

I agree Hardtimes............. this one appears to be going for 550. now, so the ones from Tod would be great at 400.

I wtd aluminum, but think I am now sold on the iron, especially since the Thomas has some "style".

Since there is some interest in iron Thomas heads I started on the core box today even though Snyder is not ready for more aluminum castings just yet. Maybe it will all come together at the same time and I can make a few iron when he wants the next batch of aluminum.

Tod

Tod,
I will commit to two of your Thomas iron heads at 400. each
Hardtimes has me convinced that this would be great to go with.
thanks Tod!

I'd very much interested in purchasing an Iron Thomas Head. Please contact me when you have them ready to sell.

I just told the iron foundry I want to make some iron as soon as I get the core box finished. That will allow me to test everything for the aluminum while I'm at it.

Tod

It would be interesting to see dyno test results on all the new and older after-market heads when they all become available.....
