    part 21A-5510

Thanks for the replies. I don't know why my 41 has the stabilizer for the 42-48s, but there it is. I discovered this from looking at the diagrams as shown in the "Green Book". My question was because looking at the drawing for the 41-48 it shows the part 21A-5510, not connected to anything so...

    part 21A-5510

I have a 1941 Ford. Looking at the drawing for the stabilizer for the 1941 the one on my car looks exactly like the one for 1942-48. My question is on the diagram there is a part shown that is not connected to anything and I would like to be sure it is there and what it does. The part number...

    bendix brake adjustment

Thanks to all for the replies. Maybe there is a problem with the wheel cylinder, I will check that out. As I said, the right wheel adjusted just as the direction said but I was unsure about the left side. Right now it is near 100 degrees and humid here in Baltimore. I will wait for more...

    bendix brake adjustment

several years ago I changed the brakes on my 1941 Ford to the Bendix style. I understood that for the conversion to work best I had to center the brake assembly in the drum. The procedure to do this was to loosen the large bolt on the rear of the backing plate and then adjust the brakes until...

    steering on 1941 Ford

All, thank you for all the info. I plan on trying all. I want to check the shocks and may try to rebuild them. I see new ones are in the $230 each catagory. I will have the tires rotated. The camber I assume is ok from having the toe in adjusted. The system they used is they put reflectors...

    steering on 1941 Ford

I am having a problem with my 1941 Ford steering. The car will wonder when I am on a straight road It is of concern because when on a two lane road I have to be alert that it does not wander into the other lane. I have replaced the tie rod ends, the drag link, the bushings in the king pins...

    Finding Your Old Car.

Good luck on your search. In my case my wife sold my 1941 Ford after I was drafted in the Army in the 1950s. In 2003 my on found one like the one I had in the 50s and I have restored it. It would have been neat to find my original. (We have been married now for 58 years so I did get over it)

dual master cylinder conversion for 1941 Ford

All, thanks for the help. I have decided to stay with the single master cylinder. IN 2009, When I up graded the brakes to Bendix style, I installed a new MC. I have had no problems with it maintaining good braking. I was under the car the other daay and noted that the hydraulic line to the...

    Different '41 parking lights?

Every 41 I have seen has the lights on the fenders. I have had 2 of them and the lights were on the fenders. It is how I can spot a 41 quickly. Don't know why Ford moved them. I think the few 42 Fords had the lights under the headlights John

    1941 steering

Mart, thanks. I did not think there was a specific torque but I did look. My usual way was to torque the nut tight and then back off a bit enough to get the cotter pin into the next opening in the castle nut. John

    1941 steering

Thanks to all for the replys. I will try the easiest first by checking the torque on the axle nuts. About five years ago I rebuilt the front end with new tie rod ends, drag link and new king pins. It may be a problem with a piece out of the steering gear and that will be the next check if...

    1941 steering

I have a 1941 Ford with a strange feel to the steering. I have adjusted the steering box per the shop manual and is feels proper but sometimes there seems to be a gap between the steering feeling good between left and right. It is not there all the time but when I am driving and it hits this...
