    Judging Class For The Original

Bob In MAFCA, Original class is judged alone with the Blue Ribbon and Touring class. I like judging the Originals first, so my team can see how Model As were originally built. MAFCA does not offer a class for judges in how to judge Original unrestored Model A's. The Original class does have...

Model-A era Ford Script Oil Can

Brent Here is the information from the 2016 edition OIL CAN A-17040 The oil can was used in A’s and AA’s from the beginning of production through April 1928. There were several different manufacturers of the oil can. It was embossed with a small, Ford script measuring approximately 1” to 1-1/8”...

    What Are These?

I believe that the silver hex unit is used to remove the fan from the water pump shaft. It is screwed on to the end of the shaft and a hammer is used on it to remove the fan.

I am very sorry to inform you...

Tom was an amazing person and a true Model A enthusiast. He was like a lot of people in the hobby who contribute many hours but kept a low profile. I worked with him on the MAFCA JSC and I will miss him. He will be sorely missed by MAFCA and the Model A world.

    Keyed Ignition Switch

When I purchased my Sedan in 1992, it had a key start. I could not get rid of it fast enough. I had to reach through the steering wheel with my left hand to turn the key while my right had was pulling on the chock. I would recommend you sit in your Model A and try it first.

    Fuel line question - UPDATE

Re: Fuel line question There are two different tubing nuts for use with ferrules. From your picture, I believe that you have the style that has the ferrule attached to the nut. The other style has the ferrule separate from the nut. You should have the second style where the nut is slid on to...

1930 Coupe with loose steering wheel

Saxby2 and all Here are my current options, #1. Put a shim between the steering wheel and the shaft, #2. grind a little off of the back of the steering wheel, #3. Grind a little off of the top of the quadrant, provided there is room above the rods. If I ever have to remove the steering box...

1930 Coupe with loose steering wheel

A friend and I have been helping an older club member get her 1930 Deluxe Coupe running and, on the road, again. She has owned it for 65 years! When I got in the car to try and start it, I found the steering wheel was very loose, and it would move up and down more than one inch at the rim...

Trapdoor2 Here is a picture of the rear shade and guide string on my 1930 Standard coupe. The shade string is tied with a knot on the inside of the shade bracket hole. Then the string goes up on the outside of the bracket, over the top and then down the inside, through the shade eye and to a...
