    Rear Lights - Temp

I drive my A in all weather, all seasons....but was unwilling to drive at night because of the single drum taillight that has a running/parking light about as bright as a bic lighter. (it's a 28 - left side only) I added a 'third eye' inside the rear window that is great for daytime...

    Anyone running 3.27:1 rear end?

I'm considering changing out the ring/pinion from 3.78 to 3.27 in order to lower my rpm 15% and not change the original appearance of the car. Anyone driving a 3.27 have any good or bad comments on the 3.27? I already know that it requires a strong engine and the 3.27 is more expensive. (but...

    June 7 - Sharon WI - Model A Day

It's like stepping back in time as hundreds of Model A's and their owners transform the tiny town of Sharon Wisconsin. The town itself starts the picture of the 1930's with the sleepy small town look with small shops and building facades but when you add blocks and blocks of Model A's lining the...

I just hate new parts failures

Don't you just hate it when you preemptively replace a part so as to avoid a failure only to have the new part fail within 20 minutes? Fired up the new engine and took it around the block. Re-torqued head and went to fire it up. Crank but no start. Problem found - Armored ignition cable -...

    Help to identify pump "packing"

I'm looking to identify the o-ring "packing" that I have in my coolant pump. I can find nothing like it out there but it works so well in conjunction with the rear seal that I want to put it in the 3 pumps I am overhauling. It consists of a brass insert with a seal and two o-rings. Anyone seen...

    Engine to frame alignment puzzlement

Should the front oil pan bolts be over the rear lip of the front crossmember or behind it? I would expect that the entire engine should be behind the cross-member except the pulley...but.... With the hand-crank aligned the oil pan bolts are resting on front cross-member. The front motor mount...

    sound of 2nd gear?

1st and 3rd do not make any noise but second gear whines like a truck. Is that normal? Gears show no wear and lube is full. everything behaves right but the 2nd gear whine is annoying.

Are there no variations on the transmission from 28-31? I see no entries in the standards manual. (To be clear - the transmission. ......not the tower or bell housing.)

    Plug hole engine lift Question

can the plug hole engine lifts safely lift engine with flywheel and transmission? Would 1 & 4 be the best plug holes to use? Anyone have these damage a head or fail? I like the simplicity but cautious as i have never pulled the weight of an engine on spark plug holes before.

    Looking for engine stand plans

Before I start cutting and welding...does anyone have plans for a engine / engine_transmission stand already on paper? Specifically I'm looking for a roll around, supporting the engine at the four engine pan bolt points of the oil pan, not the engine mount points. This would be more of a...

    Engine Pan Isolation

Has anyone isolated their engine pans? I ran the car yesterday with the pans off and a lot of vibration was missing. I put the pans back on and the vibration is back. During the summer I saw a tremendous decrease in cooling with the pans off so leaving them off is not an option. What I am...
