Oh (not so) silent night, unholy sounds, grinding squealing, shafts are crunching, is this coming from the front or rear, oh my god...what do I hear, oh this isn't going to be cheap to fix, maybe Santa will fill my parts list. ( loosely sung to silent night )

Oh I hope that isn't as bad as it looks, please tell me that's not the front pulley/crankshaft

Is it in the starter drive?
Reminds me of the drive gear key in the rear oil pump, on an old cast iron Powerglide. The key is like a small headed nail, that drops in a hole in the tail shaft! When it sheared, the car would ONLY go in Reverse & Low, NO UPSHIFT!

Unfortunately it is the drivers side rear axle.

New one sitting on bench.....guess what I am doing tomorrow?
