    1936 Ford Standard Spare Cover

SOLD.....................Nice 1936 Ford Factory Standard spare tire cover. I believe that it will work on any Ford spare that has a similar spare bracket. It is in excellent condition. It has a correct original HURD football style key. It can be easily disassembled for repaint. It only needs the...

What' Wrong With These '40 Splash Aprons

Just hung new splash aprons on my '40 Commercial for a test fit. Are they the correct ones? Have I installed them wrong? They extend down below the fender and it looks terrible. Really detracts from the fender profile.

Question on 1940 Panel/Woody Spare Cover

This is a longshot but does anybody know what the hard rubber bumbers that were riveted on the spare cover look like? Seems the 4 of them are supposed to cushion the cover where it touches the rim. I would really appreciate help in figuring them out. Wild guesses welcome! None of the 4 currently...

Please Help Identify This Heater Switch ***'y

Yesterday "53skyliner" had a question about a heater switch for his car. I posted a picture of a set-up I have. Neither of us know what year(s) it is for. I'm sure it's Ford or Mercury but wondered if any of you know which years it is appropriate for? Thank you, Dennis/Arkansas.

1940 Rear Radius Rods- Front Bolt?

Question on front bolt used for securing radius rods to torque tube. The radius rods have a coutersunk hole for the front bolt. All of the bolts I've seen are run of the mill hex bolts. The holes must have been countersunk by the factory for a reason. Should the bolt and nut be a countersunk...

    Rear Axle Seal Installation

Call me dumb but after wrenching for years I still can't figure out which way the seal faces when installing. The neoprene in the seals I have look the same from either side. By looking at the photos could someone please tell me which side faces the differential. I would really appreciate your...

    Dual Exhaust Accessory Manifold

I'd like to run dual exhaust on my 1940 1/2 Ton Flathead. I found (read bought) this exhaust manifold for the left (driver's side) of the motor. Has anyone had any experience with this style? It seems so darn simple. Are there any pitfalls I should be aware of in running the tail pipe? Thank...

Update on Steering Wheel Resto using Checkering Tool

After suggesting using a gun stock checkering tool to duplicate incised lines on a 1940 Standard steering wheel I thought I'd share a pic of the finished product. Not great but acceptable. Dennis/Arkansas

    '40 Front Axle-Front and Back?

Getting ready to glue some of the front end together on my '40 Ford. Does the front axle have a front side? The pins that hold the king pins in seem to want to go in one side only. Would that be the front? Thank you very much, Dennis/Arkansas

    Goofy '37 Ford Accessory

Vic's earlier post got me thinking about other accessories for early V-8's. I have this parking brake lever extension. The box says for 1937 Fords. I don't know how practical it is but I thought it was kind of neat and will give it a shot. Dennis/Arkansas

    Steering Wheel Restoration Hint

Thought I'd share a hint to aid in restoring a '40 Standard steering wheel. I should state that I cannot afford a new reproduction steering wheel. When filling the numerous cracks with PC-7 I had no choice but to fill in the incised lines on the 2 spokes. I agonized (I frustrate easily) over how...

Accessory Ford V-8 Heater Booster Manifold

This is an aftermarket right side exhaust manifold for an early Ford V-8 (note where the crossover pipe is located at the very front). It has a separate chamber for the water. It is in excellent condition. Just plumb the heater hoses through the manifold. If we have a winter like this last one...
