Question on 1940 Panel/Woody Spare Cover

This is a longshot but does anybody know what the hard rubber bumbers that were riveted on the spare cover look like? Seems the 4 of them are supposed to cushion the cover where it touches the rim. I would really appreciate help in figuring them out. Wild guesses welcome! None of the 4 currently touch the rim, they are rotted away. Thank you, Dennis/Arkansas.

Dennis-just read your post re the rubber bumper on your spare tire cover. I checked my unrestored cover and one of the four bumpers is still intact! The actual bumper is shaped like a "flat oval" with a tab attached to it. The tab is held in place by the riveted bracket. The bumper is only as wide as the metal retainer. The rubber may have been round when new and I would guess it may have been 3/8" but after 70 yrs. mine has flattened out to an oval shape. I took a couple pics that I can email to you then you can share with the Barn! Regards Bill-40 Deluxe Woodie in the process.

WOW Bill! I didn't expect to find out much, what a great surprise. I'd love to see a pic. I believe I can fabricate what is needed out of hard rubber. If you would like to shoot me a photo or two I would be eternally grateful. Kindest Regards, Dennis/Arkansas
