I could sure use some help in removing the pointer from my speedo. Presently it is not indexed correctly. At rest it sits below "0". I need to shift it clockwise a bit. Thank you, Dennis/Arkansas

Dennis-

I am fairly sure what you have is like a '35-'36 speedo. If this is the case all you need to do is remove the back housing. You will see a large rotating wheel. Hold the large rotating wheel so it won't move. This prevents the pointer from moving. Then twist the needle to the desired position. Do not attempt to do this twisting by moving at the end of the pointer. Do all twisting/rotating at the center. That should do it.

If you still want to remove the needle place a piece of cardboard between the needle and the center shaft/pin and pry up with something but don't get too aggressive! The needle only pushes on. To remove, it pulls off.

Thank you very much Tom and Ernie. A King- Seeley speedo I have has the large exposed wheel which can be held and the pointer repositioned. The one in question is a Waltham and the large wheel isn't exposed. I'll cogitate on it for a bit. Dennis/Arkansas

I believe there is a spiral spring behind the dial one end of the spring is tied to a adjustment arm. the pointer position and the adjustment of the spring work together to make the speedometer read correctly and return to zero. the pointer is removed by pulling it straight out, there is a tool to pull this from the rear of the pointer. Try the spiral spring adj first.

Thank you Terry, I'll give it a try. Dennis/Arkansas
