Been shopping for rebuild parts for my late (year unknown) V8. I notice that 2 different valve part numbers are listed by some vendors (8ba-6505&1ba-6505). Is this due to the use of valve rotators on some engines? How are they different? I assumed the height of the rotators was made up in spring...

I'm beginning a rebuild on my 8ba type V8. I picked up these NOS lifters a few years ago and may want to use them. I believe they are for earlier V8's. Dimensions appear to be the same.... Aside from how they look, are there any differences?

Is it possible to still buy a stock late flathead cam new or NOS? Yes I know I can get one reground, and will do that if I can't find one. Would love to find an EAB or 8cm cam.... Have tried net searches with poor results, seen some used ones on ebay.....any ideas?

The RH pump on my 8ba just started leaking, less than 15k miles. Is this normal? These are the "modern" pumps that are sold by all of the usual vendors. Wondering if I should expect the other one to fail soon. Are they rebuild-able or just a throw away item? Thanks.

Are any of the stock Ford cams better than the others? I have an 8ba that i will be rebuilding, I don't really want a "race" cam as the motor is mostly stock. I once heard the Merc cams had a little "hotter" grind? If so, where could I find one?

I need to replace the hood corner bumpers on a '36 hood. The new rubber pieces came with some tubular rivets...... Do I need a special tool to set these rivets? If so, where to get it? I hate to hammer on the hood with it's fresh paint, but........suggestions?

What is the best way to keep the flange from leaking? I have pulled the pan and removed the flange....looks like there was a gasket in between? I was thinking of using small machine bolts and making a new gasket.....maybe with a little sealer on the gaskets? Any better ideas? Thanks...

The fan hub on my 8ba leaks oil around the shaft at the rear. I've taken the hub apart, and there is no seal there. Is there supposed to be a seal? What keeps the oil in the hub? Should I just run it with less oil in it? It was filled with oil as directed by the manual....

My late V8 (stock) has 2 different heads on it....one is 8ba and the other is 8rt. Is this a problem? Are the combustion chambers the same? Are any other iron heads better than these, like Merc heads? I currently have the heads off, and they look pretty similar....but can put a matched set on...

I have removed the stock (junk) fuel pump from my 8ba and installed an electric pump. Now I am told that without the pushrod installed I will lose oil pressure. Is this true? If so, whats the remedy? Surely someone has dealt with this issue........thanks:)

My old '51 F-6 needs the trans replaced. After 60 years of use and abuse, she is really acting up. What years and model trucks used this trans? T-89 I think? This is the synchronized trans not the rock crusher used in pickups. Also has a different mount.....any help appreciated.:)
