    Radiator

Looking for opinions on discoloring section of radiator. My radiator spits up a little on a hot day in Florida when driving 45 mph. Otherwise, it does not appear to loose water. Level stays just covering the baffle. I would think that discoloring in the photo suggests a tiny leak. Or could...

    Thrust Question

Hello, I reassembling my 26/27 Model T transmission, once I drive the clutch basket down onto the key in the shaft, and bottom out the retaining bolt into the shaft, I find that I have very little clearance. It is probably only .005 . The book calls for .015 - .027. 1. Has anyone tried...

    Rod Caps - Advice Needed

Novice here. When I took the engine apart on my 1923 coupe I noticed that the number 2 rod cap had been X and a dipper pipe had been installed. I would have expected that to be the number 1. None of the other caps had been X or drilled. On closer inspection I noticed that the "number 2" had...

    Crank end play

I have 023" end play in the crank as measured between the end of the block and the crank flange. What is this going to do to the operation of the magneto? I was undecided about putting in a new magneto or running off battery. Thanks in advance for comments. It is a 1923 coupe.

Please repond - magneto advice needed

My last post only received 1 reply. Perhaps I did not phrase questions right. Hoping for more response this time. I am working on getting a 1923 coupe running. Not a show car by any stretch of the imagination. Last time it ran was 30 years ago. It was running on battery at the time. Magneto...

    Magneto Advice Needed

I am about ready to pull the engine on my 1923 T. It has been sitting for 30 years. When it was running last, it was running on battery. My questions are: 1. By 23 the T had battery, starter, and generator. Why did Ford continue to include the magneto? 2. What are the pros for running on...

    Need neutral

Getting ready to transport 1923 T. Can not get ****** to find neutral. Head is off so no compression, but I would rather not have it roll onto transport in gear. Any suggestions? Transmission needs rework anyway, so I am just looking for quick interim disconnect.

    Taking off generator

It is confusing me. Everything I read says generator on my 1923 T should come off with three bolts. I see three long bolts. Left, under, and right through the oil breather. Removed all, but generator does not budge. What am I missing?

New to T and Need Advice

I am a Model A guy, but I am in the process of tinkering with a 1923 coupe. My father bought it in 1961. I am not sure how much he did to it as I was away at school. It was not running when he got it. When he was done, it ran well. He passed it to my brother who last ran it in 1993. Now I have...

    Gas Line

1930 pickup: Curious. Is there a reason why the gas line is 3/8" between the valve and the sediment bowl and the line from the sediment bowl to the carb is 1/4"? Simply larger to avoid accidental damage inside the cab? Thanks

    Gas drip

I bought a new gas tank valve from one of the suppliers. "Guaranteed not to leak." Leaked like a sieve. Put the older one back in. Drips once in about two minutes. I am thinking about putting a second valve in the line under the hood. I store the car for a few months each year. Anyone has...

    Backfire! Help! So frustrated!

My 1930 CCPU always ran rich. It got to the point where it was smoking, stumbling, and an occasional backfire. A club member lent me a Zenith, and two Tillys. Conditions unknown. Tried all three with varying results, but none all that great. Tried a "rebuilt" Zenith. Still seemed too rich...

    Fuel Line Question

Just put a rebuilt carb on my 1930 Model A pickup. I used the old 1/4 " steel fuel line. I noticed that the brass seal/crush fittings extend slightly over the end of the steel pipe. Is that the way it is supposed to be? Or are they supposed to be slightly in back of the end of the steel pipe...
