Last year I replaced the waterpump in my 1930 Model A Coupe hoping to quiet a rattle in the fan. Just replaced the old fan blade with a new 2-blade aluminum one. It still has a rattle. Is this normal with an old car, or is there something I can do to make it go away?

I had the same gap on my A after I pulled the engine and put everything back together. I found that the hood had shifted on the hood pin. I stood at front of the car, lifted both sides of the hood and rocked it back and forth. The hood slid back and the large gap along the cowl fixed. Good luck.

The water pump was leaking earlier in the summer. Is it possible I tightened the locking nut too tight, which decreased the clearance to the head, and is now causing the squeak?

Definitely the water pump, not the generator or fan belt. How do I check the clearance between the water pump shaft and housing? Is the housing the flat, square piece where the pump assembly bolts to the engine? Also, how do I check the clearance between the shaft and the "boss" in the head...

I have greased the Waterpump through the zerk, but it is still squeaking. Was looking at the pump diagram in The Mechanics Handbook, but not sure what piece is likely to be the cause of the noise. Any suggestion....

I checked the bulbs yesterday and found a 3cp bulb in one of the brake/turn signal. Thank God the second brake light had the correct bulb. The cowl lights bulbs are 3cp. Need to order a couple bayonet 21 cp bulbs for them. I also got another heavy duty flasher. It was raining yesterday, so I...

I do not have LEDS, and all the bulbs are lit. I will verify the correct bulbs tomorrow, once I dig out the specs. Thanks everyone. Will let you know what I find.

Take the time to remove the floor boards. It gives you room to adjust the pipe to manifold fit and provides room to tighten the bolts.

I took a sample of the Rustoleum Paint to a local Model A Collector, who also paints cars for a living. He couldn't believe that a can of paint at Wal-Mart would be Henry's Apple Green. He he pulled the official Model A Paint Chips. He is now a believer. $3.97 a can...need I say more!
