    Manifold

I just installed a new copper gasket and torqued to 25 cold, ran it for a few miles and went to 35. A day later I ran it for about 5 miles and checked the torque while hot. It was still at 35 and that's where I left it. W ill check it again this weekend, but I'm staying at 35. That seems to...

    spark plugs, hot vs. cold

So the W16Y plugs I am running seem to be sooty but dry when I check them. It seems that maybe I should try the W18 plugs since they are hotter and similar to the 3X and see how they look after I put some miles on them. This seems like it is a trial and error situation to find the best plug...

    spark plugs, hot vs. cold

I have been reading past posts concerning Champion W18 plugs being hotter than W16Y plugs. I would appreciate some education on the benefit of running hotter plugs vs. colder ones, why use them, what the performance differences may be, how location may make a difference (I live in central...

    speedo repair question

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I'll try to loosen it myself this weekend before I consider sending it off for repair.

    speedo repair question

The speedometer in my 28 Phaeton locked up and broke the speedo cable. With a new cable the speedo will not turn by hand so I assume the unit needs to be disassembled and repaired. I am newbie and have zero experience with speedometers so I am very hesitant to try to repair it myself for fear of...

    carb idle question

Ok, thanks for that info. This screw is cad, I'll check it's length and try it without the cup and spring, then check with Bratton's and see what the brass screw measures.

    carb idle question

I did not know that. Do you have any idea what the different lengths may be and who may sell them? I see Snyder's have two types, brass for 28-29 and cad for 30-31. I thought that had to do more with material fpr the correct year rather that length.

    carb idle question

I was adjusting the idle mixture screw according to model-a.org instructions to turn screww clockwise until engine stalls and then out until it stalls then set between the two. My adjustment screw turned all the way in until it seated with no change in engine. It took about 1.5 turns out when it...

    HELP, please

This weekend something similar happened to me. I had just converted to modern points and it just quit after 17 miles. Had current at the points but no spark when I turned the engine over. Put in a new condenser and it started right up.

It pops out on its own after I turn it off and remove the key.

    popout switch question

Thanks Brent, I'll have to remember to check the switch when I turn it off, just to be safe.

    popout switch question

I have a 28 Phaeton with a popout switch. Several times after I have turned it off and removed the key, I have noticed the switch is poped out, which I assume is in the on position even though the key is removed. I put the key in and push it in until the switch in and I assume is off. My...
