White wall or all black on my old S/W 4dr? I tried them both one day, both Firestones.

Which do you prefer, Jeff ? ( Your car, your $$$ )

I think both look good, and regardless of what Henry put on it at the factory, WWW tires were certainly available in the Model A era ( and before ), so unless you're going for points judging, I 'd say go with whichever you like best.

I was surprised by the number of '28-'29 Model A's I saw at Hershey and Macungie this past year with non-black wire wheels... we all "know" that's not "correct", but in most cases, it didn't look "bad", and it's something that could be easily changed.

Biggest disadvantage to WWW tires is keeping them clean & white.

Over my 25 years of owning / driving antique cars, I've favored WWW tires.

BLACK

That's the sidewall that was supplied by Ford.

Whitewalls are OK if you can afford to be period correct and install double side tires.

Understand that most folks fall all over themselves to slap on a set of whitewalls. Single side whitewalls look "cheap" on a Model A Ford. But then they must be good since just about every owner seems to have them. Rather like gilding a lily. And in this case the gilding looks like some cheap paint from the five & dime store.

Black looks more elegant in my opinion, and that car is in the elegant class, not the flashy or sporty class, which might support whitewalls. Opinions are only worth what you paid for them. Mine is free.

On this S/W sedan I went from 10 years of WWW to the black tires. It was a nice change. When I got my '29 Cabriolet, I changed from orange wheels to black with the whitewalls.

I think JD has hit it solidly with his response. Naturally opinions will vary on this subject but like Frank implied, ultimately it's your car, --your dollar.

.

I prefer black for the simple reason that, to get the most tire mileage, I "turn them inside out" at 15,000 miles which is roughly "half life". It has been my experience that the front tires will wear on one side. I do rotate them every 5000 miles as well. Gar Williams

I think they both look great on the car
But If I had to choose, and it were me, I'd go with the Black.
White does look classy and dresses her up, but the black looks real good.

Then after I made my decision, my wife would come out and tell me which ones "I think" would be better, and I'd end up changing them

That's just me.

That car is so beautiful it'd make green walls look good.:D

I do like the black on it though. To me, it just looks more like a car of the day. But both look great.

Geez, the more I look at it I'd say the white walls.... Did I mention it's a beautiful car.

Yep blackwalls... ha ha

Simple leave black on one side , white on the other , :Dthat way everyone is happy, you can't see both sides at the same time anyway!
