what oil do you use?

We've reviewed oil in the past. The weight is up to you for the location and type of driving you do. But make sure it is SN rated in the circle on the back. This means it is for our kind of engines.

30 nd - any brand is better then what was sold in 1928-30.

Interesting that the processes to make lube oil are very old. The trick is to separate out the lubes in the crude from the non-lubes. In the refinery I worked in the lube oil units were built in the early 1930s and are still operating today with little significant changes. What has changed is that the crude oil contains less and poorer quality lubes now. Some refiners are now forced to make lube oils from non-lube crudes using higher technology.

Note that the additives are better today than yesteryear. Additives make up as much as 40% of motor oil.
