What diameter tire for '36 with droped axle?

Interesting Topsterguy. It sounds like there is fender clearance for a larger diameter...but then you run into frame interference when the wheel is turned. That doesn't sound good since I was hoping to put similar 26" tall tires on my 37 pickup.

Anybody else have experience with larger diameter front wheels? Maybe even 27" tires like 36tudordeluxe wanted to use?

Original tires on a '36 Ford were, I believe, 600-16 which were around 29" in diameter. That would equate to approximately a 235/75R15 radial, which should give you turning clearance. Anything smaller would give more clearance. Once you get into a wider ('65', '50' series or wider, you may run into problems.

Is your axle a little narrower than the stock 36 axle? If so, that will help re; fender clearance. Here's a photo of my 40 with the magnum 4 inch dropped axle and posie reversed eye spring. The front tires are 5:60 x15 and are 25.5 in. tall. The Magnum axle is 3/4 in. narrower than the stock 40 axle so gives me good fender clearance. The car sits very low. I know it's not exactly the same as a 36 but maybe this will help in some way. Rear tires are 7:60 x 15 and are 29 in. dia. the last phto is from a long time ago when the suspesnion was stock but the front tires were 5:60x15 on 50 Merc rims and the rears were 8:20 x15 on 50 Lincoln rims.Click on picture to enlarge.

Here's a couple of pics of my coupe. I have 195/65x15 on the front and 235/70x15 on the back. Monoleaf axle on the front with a more drop 3" dropped axle.

Topsterguy guy...that is a great looking 36.....the stance is spot on
Thanks! Interesting story - I bought it from a buddy here 2 years ago after hitting on him for several years for it! He bought it in 93 from the original owner who owns a pub here in Victoria, and bought the car new here in '36!....so I'm the 3rd owner! She drove the car a mile down the road from their house to the pub for many years, then parked it in a shed around '60. Has cool patina but NO rust!:)

May not be relevant to your plan but I run a 5:50X16 bias up front with a similar 3.5" dropped front end.
