Thanks for sharing those pictures!

It's interesting to see how different manufactures came up with completely different ways of making these things work.

Not a whole lot was done over the winter, mainly research and finding parts. A forum member did send some parts our way for which we are very grateful.

This morning despite the fist below freezing temps we've had in a week, we managed to drop the motor in. It went surprisingly well and everything seems to line up.

We also spent some time cleaning up the old wiring and figuring out what some of the widgets are.

There is a green contraption made by Midland Steel stamped Hy-Power which looks like a brake booster but I'm not 100% sure.

In addition there is something that looks like a hydraulic parking brake in line with the rear brake line.

We are currently searching for the following parts if anyone has a lead or part numbers.

Battery tray
Starter solenoid
41 crank pulley (single channel w/ "snout" for fan)
front brake hoses

Next steps include finishing the wiring, mounting the correct pulley and fan, and replacing the glass.

Thanks,
Jack

could have a line lock hydraulic brake control valve, you would hold down the brake pedal and then hit the dash mounted button and it would lock the rear brake hydraulics really just a solenoid valve. I replaced my brake hoses (3) bought them from napa. looking good?

hi all; Correct generator, tach drive and cable are on the way to these fellows. Newc

Jack, go to spaamfaa.org and check chapters for one near you. There should be contact info. Generally someone will be able to help figure out the pump, etc. Good luck

I have the proper lining for the parking brake behind the transmission. The Eastham Fire Department in a town near me just used my lining on their 1946 Ford fire engine parking brake restoration.

You have a 59 AB engine, perhaps you need a belt for 46-48 passenger vehicle. One of the vendors should be able to give you the measurement. I think Napa also carrys them

I think you are correct. Do you know how this should be wired?

Thank you!

Excuse my ignorance, but is the lining the brake pad? I'll try to post a better picture of ours soon.

line lock that I am most familiar with, it was wired thru a relay, not a fuse, so it would at the worst cycle on/off. not thru the ignition switch, so would work with engine off. these were common with wreckers, garbage trucks, firetrucks

Progress has been made slowly.. but is starting to pick up now that we have a deadline approaching (4th of July).

I have two more questions for the group.

1: We have a new battery tray but can't find the holes to line it up. We have one for a normal 1/2 ton truck.

2: Is the radiator suppose to be angled like that? Its just sitting on the mounts currently, we're waiting to install the mount springs until we put a different pulley on this Saturday.

Also looking for the correct way to get the fuel tank level wire into the cab.

There doesn't seem to be a hole and grommet. I have no issues adding one near the back of the cab, but if there is a right way to do it I'm all ears.

1/2 ton is same as auto, the pictures/ drawing I sent are of the one for 3/4 ton and up, I do have the bracket that goes to firewall and the other two brackets would be easy to duplicate and use a tray from Tractor supply
