waterwetter vs. purple ice.

rooboy glad to see ya back hows the falcon going trev

Falcons goin' good trev....Been useing a 8ba aluminium intake manifold i modified, along with several other attachments to it as well...... and still useing the 2 x 350 Hollys......
The aim was to speed up the velocity of the fuel...... Had it on the 8ba over the last 12 months or so....Gave excellent results.........
I'll send you some engine pic's later..............

I tend to agree , Lawson. I think the thing that made the most improvement was advancing the timing. The truck ran really well but had the overheat problem that I first experienced on the NE tour during the summer of '09. Since it ran well I never thought of looking at the timing. Resetting the timing made it run about 20 deg cooler and it runs even better than it did before. Basically the flathead Ford is constructed like a fire tube boiler. The cooler you can get the exhaust gasses(low EGT) the better.

Take a look at Jay Ross's website www.No-Rosion.com on chemical treatment of collant systems. I have been chasing a serious corrosion issue in my 41 pickup with a warm 59A/B engine with new aluminum heads after having a blown head gasket. I have Skip's rebuilt pumps on the pickup and the 36 roadster and they are have been problem free. Applied Chemical Specialties actually make several of these products sold under other names. One thing I am learning after Jays test results of my coolant you should only use pure drinking water with no minerals and processed by reverse osmosis (RO). Interesting reading to say the least.
We are now in the process of testing the collant in my roadster with aluminum heads to come with a course of action to save those heads and keep the engine running cool at the same time. Just my thoughts from my ongoing investagation. Happy V8ing! Larry
