Value

When I looked, I could find no reference to "assigned value", only "agreed value" and "stated value",

My error on the verbiage, Tubman. Although I believe we are saying the same thing. Regardless,
I was able to "pick" my values although I was encouraged to upvalue the Camaro since it is a big block car even though it's a "resto-mod". I was using the figures from a 5 year old appraisal. Unfortunately, in a few years I think it will drop just like the older flatheads.
I just went looking at shoebox pricing and there are some nice ones for high teens/low 20s.

Terminology.:p The important point here is that every one of us should be absolutely sure what type of coverage their "old car" policy offers.

When it comes to values of our old cars, I believe the Old Cars Price Guide is the most accurate. I go by it. They break it down into 6 condition types and explain, very well, just how your vehicle would be classified , what condition.
I see countless people advertising their cars as #1 Mint condition. OC Price Guide explains there are actually very very few cars that fit that category. The cars that you see at car shows generally fall into the #3 condition category.

It is well worth buying this book, it is upgraded every year and I think reflects the true values of collector cars.

When I discussed the agreed value figure with Hagerty, I threw out a pretty high number for an old beat up hot rod and they didn't flinch.

Insurence= Charge as much as the market will bare and pay out .1% or less always. Had a friend who worked for Farmers. He quit after five years because he couldn,t sleep at night knowing what his company was doing. Tim
