Vacuum wiper

I took my motor apart to clean & relube & now it won't run. I did take the switch part apart & was sure it went together the way it came apart. Any ideas on what I did wrong?

What kind of lube did you use? Too thick of grease can hold things up. Was the leather on the paddle in good shape? Sometimes by moving the vacuum hose, it can get cracked if it's brittle. I haven't messed with Model A vacuum wiper motors, but plenty on my '57 Ford. They probably aren't much different. I saw this on Snyder's website, may help.

They can be fussy, but properly assembled they work well. I had one stop working while travelling a long way from anything. I pulled in under the pump roof of a closed gas station and took the wiper apart. The only thing I found was the paddle needed lube. All I had was some Vicks Vapo-rub. I gave the paddle a good swabbing, and it worked just fine, though for some time after the car had a medicinal aroma. Sometimes you just have to make do with what you have. True story.
