Hello, I was asked about undercoating the inside of spare tire well , didn’t think it would be a good idea to, tire rubber might stick also if you have white walls, it may discolor them. Any input from Ford Barners ?

I've found that the fit of most 19" tires is so tight in the wells anyhow that I'd hate to add any additional thickness. Most 19" tires 've seen are 4.75/5.00 x 19, the only tire I know of that is advertised as 4.75 x 19" is the Goodyears.

Last time I had a car with 21" tires was a '29 station wagon, that was in 1969. I don't remember anything about that wheel well.

Putting undercoat on only the bottom of the well might be OK, but really, why would you do this anyhow?

Hello again , yes one drain hole about 3/4 inch. I am using 4.75 x19 radials on this car ,have heard some tires are tight in the wheel well ,not sure about the radials. On one fender well there are many dents from the inside of well , I can understand dents from outside in but trying to figure out how they are damaged from the inside out?!

One trick to place the spare tire in the well is to remove the air, then place the tire in position, then fill up the tire with air again.

Yah, you can't get mine out of the well (or back in) without letting a good bit of air out first. I just bought a special fill adapter so I can use a modern pump chuck. I don't like storing battery powered stuff in the car, so I have a bicycle pump.

A risk to be sure, but I carry a battery-powered air compressor and a battery-powered jump box. The former has saved my bacon a couple of times, and one time in the middle of Utah I wish to hell I'd had it.

The Goodyears fit our wells inflated, with just enamel in the well like the factory dipped fenders. The Vietnam made Lucas fit with a little air removed, then inflate to 35 psi.

Undercoat materials I've worked with tend too get brittle as they age so they can crack and allow moisture intrusion. This may cause corrosion down under the wheel.

Hello again, thank you everyone for your feedback, did check the fit in wheel well the 4.75x19 radial fits right in . Will paint with same paint as rest of fender, two step black.

If it's something you are determined to do - I'd have one of the spray on bed liner places do about a 4' strip where the tread rides.
