I've been looking over a set of straight window Cabriolet doors that I recently purchased. I noticed that in addition to the usual window stops at the top of each front door post, the window frames also have a short tab bent out at a right angle to the rear. Mounted in the wood window regulator/latch panel is a recess with a right angle piece of metal screwed to the panel. This tab is under the garnish molding and extends slightly into the window space. When the window is rolled up, these two tabs meet, preventing the window from going higher. Both the drivers side and passenger side window frames have this feature. Has anyone seen this extra window stop before on a Cabriolet window frame?
It is interesting that my other set of early 30 doors have the recess in the wood regulator panel for the metal right angle tab but has never had the metal tab mounted. My only surviving window frame does not have the formed tab either.
