Ok how do I know if the bushings in the distributor need replace? Im in the process of trying to get and keep my model a running as I just got it tagged and a title so Im finally legal to roam the streets. I Have to advance the distributor quit a bit to keep it running

Remove the cap and rotor and grab the distributor shaft and push and pull sideways on it. If you can see or feel any movement, then it would pay to install new bushings, and probably a new shaft.

Ok it seems to be firm....... I time it right I think and it still needs to be advanced alot to keepit running any thoughts

Timing pin in cam gear detent, spark lever all the way UP, turn the distributor cam clockwise until the points just close, then tighten the cam screw. You have to turn the cam clockwise to take up the freeplay, since the distributor cam turns COUNTERCLOCKWISE.

If you have to use too much advance, maybe you weren't taking up the freeplay in the distributor shaft.

thank you I think thats it I didnt acount for that and the timing was off some.....also my rotor bug(not sure the names right) but the plastic piece was broken and it was allowing it to scip around
