Look for a vehicle serial number stamped just above the clutch inspection plate. then look that number up in VanPelt list for the year the case was manufactured. The gear set appears as Brian mentioned above.

40 to 48 as mentioned above, however the rear mounts change thru the years. Should be a part number on it, or measure the width of the mounting bolt holes

The side shifters came out in 1940 for remote shift. They had a semi-solid rear mount for 1940 & 41. The 21A-6068-A vulcanized rear saddle mount came out for 1942 which was used through 1948 in post war production. There were only the two variations for the rear support brackets that attached with the U-joint cap and torque tube assembly.

The VIN on the bell pad is the closest a person will get for dating.

A Plethora of information,
Any idea what I should ask for this ? I went through this years ago, never ran it.
Thank you all ..

I haven't priced them for a long time. Some folks purchase the side shift types for their gears if in good condition since they fit top shift types as well. Other folks get them to replace the original after a bodged up hot rod mod from years long passed.

I seem to remember a post in the last year asking the same question, about value of a side shift transmission, and the response was around $200. Your trans appears to have the 29-15 gearing which might be attractive to someone with the 3.54:1 rear axle ratio.

Thanks Zeke3
