Is a T86F-1 3 speed overdrive trans stock for a 1957 Ford Fairlane?

Also did they come from the factory painted?

Thanks in advance for any info.

If it has a 6 or a 272, most likely yes and yes. If it has a 292 or 312 it should be a T-85, a much stronger transmission.

Thanks for the info.
It's a 57 Ford Fairlane with a 60 Merc 312. Been trying to track down a vibration, it comes in around 65-70 and lightens up a bit around 85-90. Thought at first it was tires so had a new set put on, still the same. Next replaced the rear Trans mount, then a different drive shaft. Also replaced the u- joints and the bushing in the rear of the Trans. Vibration stayed the same, the Trans will pop out of 2nd gear if you don't hold it in when letting off it , figure maybe the problem is in the Trans. I have a rebuilt T86 so thought we would give it a try.
Any suggestions would be very welcome, Thanks again.

If it's a '60 Merc 312 with original intake and heads, it's not gonna be too powerful anyway. 312's in Mercs had two barrel carbs at least starting in 1959, and in 1960 they reduced the intake valve size dramatically. Can't be much of a power house in stock form.

The engine was bored .040, the heads are 1957 castings ported by Valley head service in Northridge Ca. Has a Holley 600 cfm carb and a mild Cam. runs great. Just trying to track down that dang vibration.
