Top Trim Question?

OK. Putting the new top on the 29 Tudor. I have just about everything prepped. I ordered the rain gutters from Snyders. Following directions, I put wax paper between the base and the gutter and snapped it together in order to bend it to the contour on the back. Slowly got a good match on the contour without kinking or too much twisting. So far so good.....now how do I get the base off of the gutter without destroying it so that I can paint it and put it on the car? A screwdriver between the two pieces and prying kind of destroys the base. You cant slide it out cuz...a) the wax paper is holding and b) it has a contour in it now. Looking for some experience out there and I know its out there. If there is a Gent by the name of Larry Ryder out there, you wrote the bible for this top so far on; http://www.abarnyard.com/workshop/roofinstall-9.htm
It just doesn't give the finer points on this moulding. By the way, mine is almost the exact same car color and all. This pictorial is a superb step-by-step on how to do this.

Larry did the restoration on the subject Tudor. I did the top, took the pics, and did the writeup. Unfortunately I've never installed aluminum drip rails. I've only restored and installed originals.

Thanks Marco, now that I read back on that great tutorial, I see that these were the originals. Man, do they look great! You did a superb job in documenting and guiding me through this installation. Being new to the hobby, its great to know there are folks like you aout there. If you have any direction for me that would be great.

:confused:Has anyone installed a set of the all new pre bent tudor steel gutters from Snyders and if so how did they fit?

i just installed a set on lucy and was very happy with them.. the pre bent is the way to go as i also messed with the earlier aluminum style that needed to be shaped (never again)..
the pre bent come longer than needed so they need to be cut to size on both ends. (no big deal). you just need to cut them at the right spots so the rear curve matches the body contour...
so in a nut shell they go on easy and fit great..

i also have a good set of original gutters here which i didnt use because i needed the tack strips for them and couldnt locate anything decent... the repo tack strips and original gutters are not compatible..
i am open to selling the originals but would need to recoupe more than what the repo costs

Thanks, I like easy! I plan to cut and prep them, then separate the pieces and get them painted black before final fitting. Did you need a screw at each end?

I also have the two-piece trim strips for front and rear of the Tudor top ex Snyders. Has anyone got any tips for bending these to fit? I see a thread for the gutters that uses a plywood sandwich to prevent buckling. But the rear trim is 3 dimensional so seems like a whole lot trickier. Anyone tackled this before?
