Does anyone know if when the throttle butterfly is closed should both small holes in the side of the throat show above the butterfly or should only one show? I have one that shows one hole above and another shows two? /Josh

They are for the idle circuit fuel. Not enough air flow at idle for the main discharge to work. I think only one should show when the throttle is fully closed, when it opens slightly the second hole is exposed. This is based on general carb function, I am not a Tillotson expert.

Josh, I have a Model "X" Tillotson sitting here on my desk and the only holes are
the holes that the butterfly pivots on, and when closed the holes show half of the
hole on both sides of both holes. Mine has no other holes.

hi jack, if you look down throat, on one side about the height where the butterfly stops you will see two tiny pin holes. one above the e other. these are the holes i refer to . /josh

Josh, there are absolutely NO pinholes on my carb. Perhaps
on other models, but not on mine. I even took a "Q tip" and
cleaned inside the chamber to see if it was covered by dust.
Sorry, can't help you.

When installing the throttle plate, back off speed adjusting screw, insert throttle plate and start screws into shaft, push forward on throttle lever and allow throttle plate to center inself. tighten throttle plate screws. You will find that only the top hole in the front of the throat is visable.

Use standard procedure for setting air adjustment needle; to start, seat needle then open 1 and 1/2 turns; this should put you in the ball park.

I have a NOS Tilly still in the box. I took a look at it this morning and can find no pin holes in the throat.

I just rebuilt 10 Tillotsons, some plain and 2 X's and 5 F1B (The early Tillotson with one bolt, shaped like a Zenith or Holley, and a power jet when throttle is fully open. None of them are square. The regular Tilloson has two small holes in the front of the throat. The F1B does not have any small holes in the front of the throat.

Are there any parts available for the F1B style? Also, I have heard some people like them but many do not. I suppose this is typical of most things, but curious what you folks think.
