Right now I cannot see the pics as they are blocked here at work. But from memory the notched end goes to the pedal and the slack is removed from the pedal. The other end goes to the bottom of the seat and the adjustment is made so that the stick stays in place against the bottom of the seat so that the pedal does not move.

Move the pedal one notch and the rear brakes should start to drag. Two notches and the front should start to drag and the rear locked. Third notch and the all lock.

The adjustment is so you can position it between the brake pedal and the bottom front edge of the driver's seat. The distance varies from car to car. Each notch should be in half inch increments. There are three increments where you check the force it takes to rotate the wheel.

I made a stick years ago and just cut it to length to fit my car without the need for an adjustment slider.

Wait a minute: Isn't having the rears lock before the fronts a good way to suddenly be facing the direction you came from?

I agree that despite what was written in the 1930s it is better that the fronts come on slightly earlier- they take the main force anyway as the weight load transfers.

My opinion is that the step-wise use of the stick is informative but not very useful in adjusting the brakes. The important thing is the last step in which you want the front brakes to lock up just before locking the rears.

Well I Thank All You Folks For Your Answers

YUP! & the only time that's beneficial is when you DON'T have any REAR VIEW MIRRORS:D
Depending on the body style or seat location modifications, the distance from the brake pedal to the seat can vary, & the long slot allows you to adjust the length of the "board".
By using the board, you'll NEVER get a good HIGH brake pedal!
