Does your user name and pass word work on the hamb? What does hamb stand for? Is there a link on this site
I sure do see a lot of misguided and totally ridiculously wrong opinions voiced here about the HAMB.
Having been there since 2003 I can accurately report to you that the good completely eclipses the bad.
It’s a rare thing to find such a group helpful - generous - charitable - and knowledgeable people anywhere in this day and age.
You people should get your facts strait before you speak..
the key to negotiating the h.a.m.b. Is to, just do as requested, read the "sticky" at the top of the page prior to posting. If your a new guy ( or gal ) post a intro first. The site is about "traditional rods and/or kustoms", so if you start talking about rat rods, billet, late model japanese stuff or your jacked up rock crawler your gonna get flamed! You'll find a great bunch of guys and gals and a vast amount of knowledge there.
I'll go to the trouble of giving a quick precis of the HambAndy story.
Andy (username HambAndy) was a Canadian boy of 11 I believe when he joined the Hamb. He displayed an uncanny love and knowledge of traditional hot-rodding and learnt much about flatheads. Turned out he was not at all well. He had a tumour at the base of his skull. Over a couple of years he never once complained or adopted a "woe is me" attitude, and Hambers took him under their wing. He was taken to hot rod shows and rod building shops, and sent memorabilia from all over. As his health deteriorated, a group of Hambers got together and built him a hotrod, a Model A hiboy tudor with flathead running gear, using stuff that they and many other Hambers from around the world had donated. Not long before he passed at age 14, he was able to give that hotrod a blast, and the pleasure he got from that was unbelievable.
His father has since stated that the Hamb gave him the courage and willpower to live longer than he otherwise would have.
RIP, Andy Dunn. We miss ya buddy.
I guess i am a member. I tried to register and they said my e-mail was already in their files. I like the part about hoodlums.
