The Correct Battery

Bruce, great deal except it's "in store only" so if you don't have a Rural King near you (none in New Jersey) your OL.

I've been told that deep cycle doesn't like short charges, and reg batteries don't like being drawn way down. Perhaps an "educated expert" can clarify?
That is correct. If your car starts easily a deep cycle battery is only tickled and no harm is done. If you have to crank and crank you'll be glad you have a deep cycle one. If you are comparing quality just pick up a T-105 and you will know for sure.

"The over 12 year old battery in my 28 Phaeton was made by EPM, East Penn Manufacturing, and has been a great battery. I bought it for a couple buck from a recycling yard more than 12 years ago. For some reason it doesn't have a date code, so I don't know the exact age. EPM make batteries for several people, so you may find different labels, even though they came from the same factory."

EPM's battery brand is 'MK Powered'. No experience with them, but it does look like they've been in the game for a while.

Farm stores have em - avoid auto parts places... Whats the closest ton near you? There seems to be farm type stores all around TN...

Cheapest 1 year warranty battery for my s10 is $79 at the auto parts places - half decent one is $98-110, farm store is $54 for one with a 5 year warranty!

Auto Zone has an online coupon for $25 to $35 off of batteries right now.
It brings a 6 volt battery down to $65.00

6V batteries at TSC range from $79.99 to $99.99. O'Reilly's are about the same and Advance Auto doesn't carry 6V anymore.

There have been reports here on the barn that the optimas don't last like they did years ago.

As for a lead acid battery,

Ask for a Group 1 battery for 6 volts.

Both the interstate MT-25 and the MT-35 have the same dimensions as the 1-VHD except the L is 9"...same CA (power) the difference of these two are the position of the pos and neg posts.. MT-25 pos is on the R/S,, MT35 pos is on the L/S..
