Anyone have a "upgraded" Paramount LED kit in your 504 and working as it should??? OR have you had an "issue" with it a "stock" 6V coil on a distributor???

Both Mine have mark's LED Conversion. No issues after daily use for 4 years since converting and literally probably 750 hours on it since on the main one I use which is a 504 as well. The Coil and or coil voltage is not relevant as the pickup signal is only from the opening and closing of the points on each lobe relative to the shaft, unless the coil is completely fried and in "open loop".

Thank's Michael, I think I might have a bad transformer....Mine was working fine THEN all of the sudden was intermittent and then stopped!!!

Robert,
If a coil has faulty open loop windings it will cause issues. While you need to have something (I.E. Coil) attached to ensure downward pressure on the breaker plate; I use the modern coil adapter plate rather than a actual coil to eliminate the possiblility of a faulty coil skewing with the machine. Tap the the red wire to the ground wire of the machine and at only one arrow should momentarily light if it does not then the machine has a issue.

Yeah. I had already tried, Touched the red and black lead and NO flicker at all!! So “issues”

FINALLY had some time to poke around on my 504. Found the contact wire in the center of the chuck shaft got cut AS the strobe housing for some reason had shifted and sheared that wire in two. Got it replace and working like a champ!!!!

Appreciate the update on your sun tester. Mark is a great resource of parts and information and they are great machines.
