Starter help

It was just a guess...

Installing a solenoid is a way to put a push button starter button on the dash and eliminate the stomp starter. Nothing wrong with that, if that's what you prefer. The car won't care.

A battery can be charged fully, but fail when it comes to cold cranking.

the guy at Oreilly's put it on a tester.

Would'nt the tester have shown a cold cranking failure?

I am currently using the solenoid as a start switch mounted to the firewall. When I begin to wire the car out I plan on using original wiring and use the push button on the dash.

Best of my knowledge a 35 had a floor (stomp) starter button. No solenoid at all.

This is a 36' but probably very close. No 35 on Vanpelts.

Probably.

I thought you had charged it completely? You might have a bad battery.

One thing at a time though.

I did charge it completely but it has been a week and several starting attempts since I did.

The Battery is only a month or two old.

Oh.. and the engine is a 35 but the car is a 33.

Yep!

That is the one!

I am really new to all of this. I appreciate the time all of you take to help out.

We all start somewhere. Take one thing at a time and enjoy.

Oh and... The more I think I know, the more I learn that I don't know a thing! Learning is part of the fun.

Starter is good!

After doing some reading I figured I would try to hook a 12v battery directy to the starter. She spun like a champ.

I think the problem is definitely the power source. Either the battery or wiring(bad ground etc.)

I'll keep y'all posted!

Ok here's another silly question. Are you sure you have a 6 volt starter (or a car that hasn't been previously converted to 12 volt?) I can't really see on my phone too well but was this someone's project when you got it or do you know a lot about it?

Never mind,me, just looked at your bio, looks like you have history on the car if it was in the family.

Thanks too for your service. I'll go to bed now and be quiet.

Guess what!

Bad battery! I took to orielly's where I bought it a few weeks ago and they told me it needed a charge. I brought it home charged all night with a 6v auto shut off charger. Still would not turn the engine over. Took it back to orielly's and they determined it was bad, gave me a new one and now the engine is turning over great, plugs and all.

Now the problem is that I am not getting spark to the plugs. Next thing to research and learn!

Thanks again for all of the help guys!
