Somewhat offensive

Thanks Mitch, misunderstandings are just that. Glad we resolved this one, as I will still be looking for help from time to time. And I am sure you know more about As in a day than I know all week. But I am hoping to change that with the help on this forum.

Where are u in FL? I'm going to Sarasota in 2 weeks to visit Grandmom who turned 98 today... She still drives (a Kia Soul):eek:rides a bike:) goes to the gym:o and does pool aerobics:) as well as taking college Spanish courses:rolleyes: I think I should consider moving there soon it's healthier.....

Currently I am deep south east Florida, Coral Springs, but I am hoping to move further up to North Florida, as my daughter will be going to UF in the fall. I envy you if you do get to move to the Sarasota area. It is much nicer there, people are a lot friendlier, and not near as much congestion. Not to many A drivers down here, but there seems to be plenty up that way. And bless your Grandmom, as we should all be able to to do those things at that age.

Oh yeah, as far as being healthier, it may very well be that way in Sarasota, not so much down here. Air is to humid, but on the west coast up there it is much better. Originally I am from Virginia, and it took some getting use to.

Whoa! I was getting a little nervous .... I've asked so many dumb questions in here, and hadn't gotten too many snarky responses (yet) so.... I figured I was due for a flood of 'em!
We are born not knowing a damn thing, and if someone didn't teach us, or somehow we managed to miss learning everything about everything along the way, chances are someone else knows something we don't about something. And the only way to learn it is to ask... or really be a dumbass and pretend you do know.
Glad to read it was resolved.... God Bless.

So you start a thread ?

I was a little offended by being talked down to by a member who assumed I didn't know what something was or what I was talking about. Had been a few years since I had seen one and couldn't recall what it was called. I may be new to model As, but I have been wrenching for 40+ years and have built and rebuilt my fair share of engines, transmissions, and rear ends. Did a couple of ground ups as well. All of these being on 50s and 60s era cars and pickups. Just getting into the As, I thought I might acquire more knowledge, as we all know that is one of our best tools. So I may be green yet to model A fords, I plan on learning all that I can, so that when I pass it down to my son, I will be able to help him as others have helped me. I will continue to come to this sight because for the part most are willing to answer questions without judgement. I also think I may know some things that might be of use to others. Just because you haven't heard of something, or seen it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. And if you do learn of it and choose not to use it, that is your choice. But others may find value in it, and a use for it.

I didn't have a photo handy so I paid some artist named Picasso to do an official rendering of Sailor when he gets excited from me leaving or returning back home. He always hones in on my groin for some reason and he never misses as he jumps up and down in sheer joy and excitement in seeing me.

I have been told that this painting/rendering may well be worth millions if I take it to the Antique Roadshow and have it appraised. If so, then that means II can finally get some more parts for my A and be a happy camper.

Sailor also leaves me little unexpected presents which are a sure fire way to make my day in offending me, despite his sincerest efforts to please.

As said, every single lie of this is the truth, I swear! :-)

I could not agree more! Wayne

I have been corrected a number of time here (probably even by Mitch), but have not been offended. Of course I have had plenty of practice (35 years as a middle school science teacher)! I found that what worked for my 6-8th graders works here. They never expected that I would be perfect, but they did expect that when I was wrong, I would admit it, correct myself, and move on. As a bonus I hoped that they learned a little about how to act when they were eventually wrong about something.

I can tell you straight up, It' aint any less humid over here on the westside. Might be cooler over there with the ocean winds. Gulf is a big stagnant pool. Just is what is it is. Welcome to Florida!

Mitch//pa, big ups for saying it might have been me unintentionally. I've seen your post for years and wouldn't think you'd do that in mean spirit. Sometimes we get a little short, but you're alright. Not that that means alot coming from me! ha ha

Join the club. I asked if anyone knew a reason on of the venders didn't return phone calls. I thought maybe a family emergency or such. Got reamed out pretty well and someone told the vendor i was bad mouthing them. Now i'm too embarrassed to have further contact with them. They had hurt feelings and that certainly wasn't my intent, but some seem to get great pleasure in stirring the pot. Thankfully they are few and far between on here, but they will jump on you if there is an opening. Stay with the site. Most are good folksy people.

I've seen a lot of vender bashing here. Usually is resolved by the vendor or others have chimed in to say they have the same result, making a bad review. This is neither. Its sort of the result of social media sites like this.

I've had bad vender experiences. I don't buy from them no matter what someone says.

Without knowing a persons level of knowledge it is often easier to start at an explanation at a low level and move up from there. It is easy for the recipient to feel as though he is being talked down to if he already has that basic knowledge.

When going to factory schools I had an instructor tell us just that. He apologized right off if anyone found themselves offended at bt the level of discussion at the start of trainng.
