no you shouldnt have to turn the GAV in.. if it makes no difference turning it in your carb needs a rebuild with flow tested jets and a viton float valve for the leak. renners corner sells the flowed jets,,,when your done you will be amazed at the difference.. also if your tank valve is not holding fix that also.. problems solved
