Should Have Stayed in Bed Today

Tom, hang in there... Edison tried hundreds of different materials before discovering tungsten... Your gizmo will shine soon.

Why do you weld (braze?) a boss on the outlet? I just drilled and tapped a 1/2" pipe thread in the side of the outlet and installed the temp gauge directly.
Works perfectly. . .
Dick

I wanted a smooth sculptured look to match the lower factory one.

Yesterday I tapped the outlet for a 3/8" pipe, which is the right size for a 5/8" heater hose. I'll cut this pipe in half and use one half on the lower inlet fitting.

Good news!
All is not lost because now I have a piece of modern art and a pencil holder.
I think I'll enter it in the New York Art Show and call it "BROKEN DREAMS" :D

Edison used Carbon, not tungsten.

Later on , GE engineers discovered how to produce a lamp filament from Tungsten as the metal is hard to shape.

It's all in the feel. I've broken a couple myself. I like the look of it though. Appears to be factory.

Heh Tom. Don't sweat the little things in life! Many men are happy to make a coffee in the morning, let alone a tool. Wayne.
