Service brake cross shaft issue

When the brake pedal is depressed on my 29 Fordor, the cross shaft strikes the bottom of the torque tube, right away, and raises the whole engine/trans slightly.
I found the rear engine mounts to be slightly loose and figured that would cure the issue. It didn't. I have never had the drivetrain or engine out of this car. Is it possible that the front mount is too high? Is this a common problem?

What type of rear motor mounts are in the car? Original style or the farby reproduction rubber doughnut type?

Also, what is on the front original style?

Both front and rear mounts appear to be stock. The front mount is bearing on two springs and the rear mount is a steel bracket with thin rubber between it and the chassis. This is my first A.

This is usually the sign that the frame is sagging at the rear motor mounts. The rubber pads that install between the rear motor mount blocks are L shaped. If the L shaped bottom of the pad is squished too thin or missing it can cause a similiar problem. I would replace the rear motor mount pads if they didn't look good. If that didn't solve the problem here is a bandaid fix that will solve the problem. If you can find the rear part that connects to the universal joint housing from a float A motor kit it will solve the problem. This part connects the universal joint housing to the center cross member . A rubber block that fits between a steel plate and the crossmember cushions the mount. As the two long bolts are tightened, it raises the transmission and drive shaft. If you had to buy the whole float a motor kit and only use the rear part it would be a good deal . It would be less expensive than having the frame straightened and you could do it yourself. I would only use the rear part or you could open up a whole nother can of worms.

My friend's Model A did the same thing. His frame was bent at the rear motor mounts. Once he straightened the frame everything worked fine.

If the frame isn't straight then the hood won't fit right either.

Well, the hood doesn't fit right, either. So, the bent frame certainly makes sense but l don't see that project happening any time soon. The rear mount of the Float A Motor makes a lot of sense. Thanks, men.
