roadster stanchion Q.

Regarding the lower '30 roadster stanchion: I've two questions on two problems that I've encountered.
First, is it possible to replace the threaded worn stud in the lower stanchion...the stud that holds the lower/upper stanchions together?
Next, the lower stanchion is fastened to the body horn by two screws. If the screw hole threads are worn, where new screws can wobble when put in..is there a fix for this?

The stud can be replaced with some effort. A machine shop should be able to do the job for you.

The screw holes should be repairable with Helicoils. Again, that could be a job for the machine shop although many mechanics have the tools to install Helicoils. Gar Williams

THANKS for your ideas Gar! I'll check them out..Rick

I had a boogered up thread on the lower stanchion, and ended up welding a nut on the backside. It didn't look pretty, but is strong and nobody can see it anyway.
