DO NOT FRET ABOUT TAKING YOUR DISTRIBUTOR APART AND NEEDING TO RE-SET THE TIMING!!!
As others have said just be methodical about it and keep track of how it came apart and reverse the process to put it back together.
Get the Nu-Rex timing wrench from one of the vendors and use it to set the timing. Very easy and almost fool proof.
