I took my baby out on the expressway this weekend to test out the new Columbia. I ran slap out of gas and pulled over to the shoulder. Now, I have a new Drake sender (grounded to the frame) that usually will read all over the map when I fill up and it will settle out after a bit, but it showed a 1/4 tank when the car sputtered to a stop. Lucky we have an emergency service vehicle that is sponsored by an insurance company that happened to show up with some free gas. Fella said mine was the oldest car he had ever helped. Wanted his picture taken with it, front and rear!
My investigation on this forum concerning this problem hasn't been too encouraging either, as it seems there are many with the same issue. Short of carrying a can of gas in the boot at every outing, what is the permanent fix for this annoying situation? "Finding" an old King Seely unit has not proved fruitful either.
