reinstalling engine

I'm getting ready to reinstall my 8BA engine. I thought that since I had it out, it would be a good idea to replace the old motor mounts and radiator hoses. Any suggestions as to a procedure to use? I was going to install the motor mounts on the water pumps first but leave them slightly loose for some wiggle room. Next lower the engine to align the mount studs with the front cross member holes. Any other suggestions welcome especially about the lower radiator hoses. The radiator is not in at this time.

Cut the heads off a couple of bolts that screw into the back of the block. Use these as guides to line up to the gearbox. Use about 1 1/2" bolts and cut a slot in the end so you can easily remove them when the engine is in. I don't have any advice on the engine mounts, but I'd leave the bottom hoses 'till last. I've never had any trouble with the bottom hoses, but I use silicone hose. Make an accurate measurement, and put them on the radiator end first, put the hose clamps on the water pumps, push the hose as far as you can at the radiator end, bend them up and onto the water pumps.

Your on the the track with your motor mounts. Leave everything loose and lower the motor slowly into position. I’ve always had good luck putting the radiator hoses on at the same time I was lowering the radiator. An extra person is helpful with the rad and hoses…..Mark

Thanks 69a. I will have the trans and everything on the engine when I do the install. I should have added that I'm running a T-5 out of a Mustang so no clearance issues encountered when removing the engine with trans and everything attached.

Thanks flatford8 for the reply. Just trying to refresh my 85 year old memory. Been a long time since I last did this. My soon to be 57 year old son has been a great help.
