Rear Hood Hinge - Threads Stripped

So, does anyone see why the rivetnut/nutserts would not work?

As long as the rivets can be made to slide laterally to adjust the hood alignment, perhaps worth a try. Have used them on a boxed frame to hold tube shocks (not Model A) and they work well.

The originals were not tightly clamped in the cages, they had a little wiggle room to get the screws started. They had a little play for the hood pivot to self-align before final tightening.

That's the common fix I've seen.I have a car fixed like that.Spin the longer screw down through, and reach up underneath and screw the nut on.The side pressure from the stripped out nut should hold the screw tight enough to turn the nut on finger tight. If not have somebody else hold it,or set a magnet on the screw heads.I generally don't take that piece off to remove the hood.I pop the hood stay rods off the radiator, and rock it ahead 3/4 of an inch.

X2 Did that, easiest method.
