Re-arching the correct way, might be more expensive than a new spring....

Do spring shops heat treat the leaves, after re-arching them?

Many moons ago when I was overloading my van with racing motorcycles, tools, and pit crew, I broke many rear springs. The local spring shop always heat treated their repairs. How did I know? The rubber bushes were always burnt out.
Problem finally solved by putting one ton springs in a half ton van.
Completely off topic, but it was a Ford van.
