I had a pertronix unit on my 6-volt '55 Ford Y-block years ago, but it didn't last very long. I think heat got to it. I took it out, threw it away and put my points and condenser back in.
The pertronix unit that was available back then called for the original ignition coil.
I cut a piece of masonite and mounted it on a factory hole on the firewall to do the ignition wire splice. When I switched back to points and condenser, I just left that masonite mounting block there, and put a duplicate of original wire terminal on the ignition wire.
Man, am I tired of this substandard chinese junk they are selling for replacement parts and upgrades. Their ignition condensers are not much better. If you get one that actually works, keep it until it quits.
