Hi guys, just my 2 cents about something that bugs me.I'm from the old school, the 1970's.I see ads on ebay, not the Ford barn, that people try to sell new parts and say that they are NOS, lets clearify the term. Here is a hypothetical ad, NOS distributor cap for Model A from Joe's auto parts, bought it last year and never used it. WHAT ? This is NOS, I don't think so !!!!! NOS means NEW OLD STOCK. This is a part made in the year the car was manufactured by the auto manufacturer and was forgotten about on a shelf or warehouse, still in it's original package and found years later. Than there is NORS, New Old Reproduced Stock, which is a part that was reproduced, lets say in 1950 by private company ( not the auto manufacturer ) than it was found years later in it's original package.I'm not condemning people on Ford Barn,I just want to pass on some info so sellers don't advertise with the wrong description and you don't get ripped off when you buy a part. Thanks for your time,Happy Model A-ing. Dennis /CT P.S. I bought ( which I thought ) an NOS transmission cluster gear, it was advertised that it come out of an original shipping crate. After I received it and went to use it about a year later I found that it was made by Mark Auto not Ford.
