Many vendors, including us, have NOS and NORS parts available from time to time. It’s not typically something that is in large quantities and can come and go in our stocks. We have NOS stuff when we find it…..and there’s no rhyme, reason, or set schedule for when that occurs.
There are two important things to consider when choosing NOS parts. First is that, as we’ve found, those parts may not have the same fit and finish as the original parts used in production. We’ve found that many NOS transmission parts don’t seem to fit like the original ones. I suspect that some parts were made for Ford’s service parts stocks by outside vendors. The tolerances don’t seem to be the same. Just because we acquired the items in old original Ford packaging doesn’t mean that the items were produced in the Ford facilities.
Another thing to note here is that the NOS parts often have been in general storage for years….often in less than ideal environmental conditions. Original packaging is frequently long gone, and the part itself may have some degree of oxidation due to exposure to moisture and other things. In other words, the item may have never been used, but it may need some sort of restoration before installing it.
